Venus
The next planet in our solar system is Venus, the second planet from the Sun. It is often called Earth's "twin" because it's very similar to our planet in size and mass.
Despite being farther from the Sun than Mercury, Venus is the hottest planet. This is because it has a very thick, toxic atmosphere made mostly of carbon dioxide and clouds of sulfuric acid. This dense atmosphere traps heat in a runaway greenhouse effect, causing surface temperatures to reach over 880°F (471°C).
Another unique feature of Venus is that it rotates very slowly and in the opposite direction of most other planets.
