86. The Paradox of Choice

The Paradox of Choice is a psychological concept that argues that while some choice is good, having too many options can actually lead to anxiety, decision-making paralysis, dissatisfaction, and ultimately, reduced happiness.

It suggests that an overabundance of choices:

Increases the effort required to make a decision.

Elevates expectations (if there are so many options, one must be perfect).

Increases the likelihood of "buyer's remorse" because it's easier to regret a decision when you consider all the unchosen alternatives.

Question:

In your opinion, is the modern world giving us too many choices in areas like consumer goods, careers, or even entertainment? Do you find that having fewer, simpler options makes decision-making easier or more satisfying?
